As one of the oldest and largest producers of outdoor adventure socks in Canada, The Great Canadian Sox Co mission to get people outside and enjoying nature is similar to that of The Trans Canada Trail. That is why in 2022, we decided to partner with The Trans Canada Trail to make a branded merino wool hiking sock that would keep trail users feet happy while exploring the great outdoors.
What is The Trans Canada Trail?
With 24,000 km of connecting urban and rural trails, the Trans Canada Trail or Great Trail, is the longest recreational trail network in the world. It spans coast to coast in Canada from the Pacific Ocean in British Columbia and the Yukon to the Atlantic Ocean in Newfoundland. The organization was established in 1992 and is a non-profit that raises money and awareness through individual and corporate donations, the federal and provincial government and famous advocates like Margaret Atwood, Sidney Crosby and Bryan Adams. The principles of the organization are to get people outdoors and exploring landscapes, small towns and major cities.
How is it managed?
The trails that make up the network are owned and operated by the city, local trail groups, conservation authorities and sometimes provincial and federal governments.
What activities are allowed on the trails?
It is a multi-use trail which allows for a range of activities such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and canoeing.
